About Ben's Military Record

Ben is a 30-year Naval Veteran as well as a graduate from the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD. Some of his accomplishments include successful combat missions. Throughout his career he has demonstrated a keen knowledge of engineering and design.
During his last year in the U.S. Naval Academy, he built and launched a 15-foot long liquid propellant rocket from White Sands Naval Missile Test Facility. He was nominated to the Sigma XI Scientific Research Society and the American Rocket Society for his accomplishments.
As a Bombardier Navigator for the A-6 Intruder, he designed floating targets for the Fleet, which provided crew members needed radar bombing practice.
He later served as an Electronic Warfare Officer at the Surface Warfare Development Group where he innovated a solution in the Anti-Ship Missile Defense tactics which was instituted fleet-wide.
After becoming a reservist, Ben spent five years with the CINCLANTFLT DET 106 reserve unit, as a certified Watch Officer. He also participated in several real world crises, assisting with the Mississippi Flood Relief, the Miami Hurricane Relief, Haitian, and Cuban refugee operations, as well as support operations for the Bosnian theater. During participation with USACOM, he created the Reservist Tracking Database, which is used service-wide and assists with reservist recall, training, education, skill, and drill information.
As Command Officer of the NR Command Naval Forces South, headquartered out of Roosevelt Roads Naval Base in Puerto Rico, his command provided naval support services throughout the Caribbean, Central America and South America. His command was responsible for working with countries and their military throughout the region to provide security support to US Naval ships and personnel visiting foreign ports
Ben's aviation experience consists of 928 flight hours in 8 different aircraft such as the A-6 Intruder and others, as well as a single engine plane. He has completed 256 carrier landings in total on the USS Saratoga and USS America.
