The 2nd Amendment
“I cannot stand idly by and allow this government to slowly strip away the right of every law abiding citizen to ‘keep and bear arms.’ We must stand together and fight to preserve the 2nd Amendment for our children and our children’s children.” –Ben Loyola
The 2nd Amendment is very dear to Ben Loyola. He is a life member of the NRA and a long-time member of the Virginia Citizen’s Defense League. Ben and his wife Gretchen go shooting at the local gun range every Saturday night after church. They call this, “God and Country Night”.
Ben is committed to the defense of the 2nd Amendment and rejects infringements on the right to keep and bear arms such as the DC ban on handguns, for example. Our government needs to recognize that law abiding citizens have and in perpetuity should have, an unfettered right to keep and bear arms.
When Castro took power in Cuba, he took arms away from the people. “Pan para armas” was Fidel’s command to the people, “Give me your guns and I will give you bread.” That isn’t so different than what is going on in some parts of the country.
Certain liberal interest groups have strived to make the 2nd Amendment irrelevant and have portrayed guns as something to fear. Ben is committed to working with organizations like the NRA, Gun Owners Association of America, and the Virginia Citizens Defense League to educate law abiding citizens on the 2nd Amendment and the proper use of guns.
While in the hands of criminals, guns and other weapons are tools of destruction but in the hands of law abiding citizens, they are a Constitutional right. As your Senator, Ben will fight to preserve the 2nd Amendment.
