Vote No on Cloture on the Senate Healthcare Bill

December 20, 2009

Republican Ben Loyola calls on Senators Webb and Warner to vote against cloture on the Senate Healthcare bill.

Now is the time!

1 A.M. Monday, a time chosen by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, the United States Senate will vote to end debate, a procedure called “cloture.” 60 yes votes are needed. One vote short, and the Senate will need to continue to listen to the American people instead of rushing through this government takeover of health care.

The time to act is now. Monday is too late. I expect subsequent cloture votes will be no different from Monday’s vote. Please contact your Senators who represent you and fellow Virginians and urge them to vote NO on cloture to the Obama/Reid/Pelosi health care bill.

If you believe as I do that this bill goes way beyond addressing problems in the health care system in our country. 2,000 page bills with 400 page amendments are not free markets solutions.

We need more choices of better quality at lower costs. This bill offers fewer choices, lowers quality and does nothing to control costs.

Call: Sen. Jim Webb (202) 224-4024 / Sen. Mark R. Warner (202) 224-2023

Call your Senators and tell them to vote NO on cloture. There is no reason for a Christmas rush with a bill this large with amendments this complex and more special interest ornaments than any Christmas tree I’ve ever seen.

If cloture is agreed to, this health care takeover will become law, and a government already deeply in debt and nearing financial calamity will have just made their own fiscal soundness and that of the American people exponentially worse.

Thank you for standing up for freedom.
