Important Deadline
September 30, 2009
In just over 24 hours, I will reach the first critical benchmark in my effort to bring new leadership to the 2nd Congressional District—the September 30th fundraising deadline. This deadline is important as it will help set the tone for the campaign.
While my primary concern at the moment is getting Bob McDonnell elected Governor of Virginia this November, it is also imperative that we start amassing the funds NOW to take back Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District next year.
As you know Americans are working harder than ever and are competing for a declining number of jobs. In these uncertain times, as the size and scope of the federal government grows larger and larger, Americans need real and viable opportunities to succeed.
As an entrepreneur and a small business owner, I understand the importance of free market principles and fiscal responsibility.
As a fundamental principle, one cannot help the wage earner by hurting the wage provider and that dependence-inducing handouts provided on the backs of America’s small businesses will never bring us out of recession.
As a 30 year Navy veteran with combat experience, we must take care of our soldiers and maintain a strong defense. We cannot allow the current administration to slash Defense spending by 10%. This would significantly impact our national defense and be detrimental to our region's economy. It has already begun with the proposed 5% cut.
