Ben Loyola’s 6 Point Stimulus Plan
March 30, 2010
Instead of increasing deficits, growing federal debt, and saving government jobs rather than creating private sector job growth, Ben Loyola believes that the stimulus adopted by Congress was counterproductive with the wrong focus. It’s been inefficient and ineffective.
Ben Loyola knows we would create a job bonanza in America if we adopted these 6 ideas.
1. Cut Taxes Across the Board – The only way to truly fuel economic expansion is to cut taxes for all taxpayers. Instead of picking winners and losers, an across the board tax cut would send a clear signal to business owners and individuals that they know how to spend, save and invest better than the government would. Then we would move to fairer, simpler tax reform which would include eliminating the anti-growth 67,000 page tax code.
2. Control Federal Spending – Our national debt and constant deficits are creating a fiscal nightmare. We should implement an immediate hiring freeze like Ronald Reagan implemented in the 1980s. Next, we should eliminate non-defense earmarks and pork-barrel spending and require to a Constitutionally-mandated balanced budget.
3. Eliminate Capital Gains Taxes and Taxes on Savings – Our international competitors encourage savings and investment while we punish it. We can’t attract jobs while punishing the very investments that create them. We should eliminate taxes on these methods of generating capital.
4. Cut the Red Tape and Bureaucracy that Cripples Economic Development - Regulatory burdens are crippling our ability to expand infrastructure and create jobs. We can create jobs by moving forward on modern transportation systems and making them affordable by reforming the regulatory nightmares that make building them a generational effort.
5. Build Two New Carriers – Build two additional carriers to meet all core competencies of the Unified Maritime Strategy, including power projection, forward presence, sea control, maritime security, deterrence and humanitarian assistance/disaster response. The additional carriers will also allow for shortened deployment cycles addressed in the Fleet Response Plan and lessen the demands that are straining our service members and their families. This idea would provide real economic growth, create jobs and add to our Nation’s security.
6. More American Energy Solutions – Our ability to compete in the world market is limited by our dependence on foreign sources of energy. We should explore for American oil and natural gas and invest in nuclear, clean coal, and renewable energy production to end the reliance on foreign energy sources, lower energy costs and create jobs in America.
