Another Cancellation for Obama's Favorite Republican
April 21, 2010
Republican Congressional Candidate Ben Loyola criticized opponent Scott Rigell for continually abandoning public forums.
“Rigell got some tough questions about his support for Obama and he has virtually avoided forums ever since,” fired Loyola.
Organizers of the candidate forum for the Lake Smith Terrace/Haygood Point/ Governor Square Civic Leagues learned just hours before that Rigell cancelled his participation in their event held last night, offering to send a letter of profuse apologies.
This is just days after Rigell cancelled his participation in a candidate forum at Old Dominion University sponsored by the blog, Bearing Drift. Rigell has also at the last minute cancelled appearances at Tidewater Community College and another candidate forum held by one of the Virginia Beach Republican Women’s Clubs.
“It's obvious that Rigell’s handlers don't want him taking questions and speaking in anything but controlled environments and hope that his television commercials do all his work for him,” added Loyola. “Voters should know that if this is the way Rigell campaigns, this is what they can expect of him in office.”
